  1. Sure, make inflation worse while continuing to allow colleges to peddle worthless degrees and waive people of responsibility for taking them. What could go wrong?

  2. I bet there is not one republican who wont take advantage of the debt relief. their hands will be in that cookie jar quicker than you can say SNAP …… they are pure hypocrits!

  3. We are done as a nation if you folks are against allowing people to carry a child they cant take care of and not allow them to get out from under the boot of student loans seems to me you are in need of a shot of compassion !

  4. A lot of these students had a less than normal Covid Class experience. This may save our faith in the high education system and protect our standing in the world as an educated society by quelling their unease about that.

  5. This is a ridiculous plan.. Students took out a loan as an investment in themselves.
This should be called failure relief.
Luckily for me my mortgage identifies as a student loan. Can I stop paying it now?

  6. They are still going to have to pay it back, just through higher tax gouges and forcing others to spread the debt to EVERYONE! You can not get anything for free, for there is ALWAYS a cost.

  7. "These kids these days get everything handed to them! I still remember the good old days when we were all in poverty and nobody gave a shit!"

  8. The system that brought forth extreme insurmountable debt from trying to become educated is at fault. Greed and more greed.
American Education system is a joke.

  9. The problem is that knowledge is power, look at how easily the republicans were fooled by trump. If they were properly educated maybe this wouldn't happen.

  10. Should everyone who lives in an Apartment pay off my ill conceived home loan?

Should everyone who lives on cash alone pay off my ill conceived credit card debt?

Should everyone who uses public transportation pay off my ill conceived automobile loan?

Should everyone who didn't go to college pay off my ill conceived student loan debt?

You see, the argument is just Student loans, but, that's not what the REAL argument is. Apply the same logic across the board. The difference is this delusional view that student loans are some how virtuous and all other loans are evil.

  11. So we are effectively bailing out the colleges and universities now? Because they still got the money and tax payers are now having to borrow and pay for it. remembers folks if you're a tax payer. it's not the government's money. It's your money.

  12. I feel for most of my peers who have accumulated debt after saving and working while still in school before they graduated (it still wasn’t enough with tuition on the rise). I felt online school ($35K/yr) was too expensive for me and the payments were unnecessary. Learned what I needed to and started my own businesses right before my senior year. I departed with a year left of unnecessary classes. Saved myself another $35,000! Haven’t been back, but I really miss learning. I’ll go back once I decide it’s worth $35k.

  13. The problem is the cost of college is too high. Maybe some colleges could have afforded to cancel the debt. Most charged full price even when classes were on-line during covid.

  14. They threw money at the problems to keep from having to actually address the problems.
College and Healthcare costs are too high, no one will investigate why and I'm willing to bet that now that the government is throwing money at them, the costs associated with those two sectors is only going to increase.
Short term, ineffective solution to long running, widespread problems.

  15. It seems like most of the people complaining about this debt relief for students are either people that have never went to college, or those that got $80k in student loans for a university for a career field, when they could have spent a fraction of that at a community college or trade school and learned the same stuff. Basically just people trying to throw tantrums and find reasons to blame others because of their own poor life choices.

  16. It’s crazy if you don’t see this as a voter grab by the democrats then I can’t help you.

Main reason WTF does this do from here on out??? Next year the year after. It’s all the same.

Out side of this putting the country further in debt. It’s fixes nothing.

    Please explain

  17. how about us parents who took home equity lines of credits for their kids college bills, I'm 68 and still paying …now I get to pay for your kids too? something is wrong here…

  18. In reality , most of these people are getting degrees that are becoming more and more worthless by the day , you see as supply and demand dictates the more you have of anything the less it is worth. We have more college graduates than ever before. Look hard , no one wants to discuss the elephant in the room , that the earning power of a college degree declines year after year. In about twenty , you’ll get a pat on the back and minimum wage,

  19. so is this some kind of click bait or sis some one upload the wrong video? As you never showed us "What Michiganders really think about student loan forgiveness".

  20. how about making these scam colleges pay and not the tax payers? how about no interest? how about a actual conversation on interest rate scams and how this "relief" will just have colleges charge more? this is what happens when you have one sided political media who dont put any pressure on subjects that go against political agendas

  21. bandaid fix as usual instead of fixing the root problem, but of course because college is a indoctrination camp and the more kids they flood in the more indoctrinated kids come out

  22. People in the comments crying about this probably still owe on their PPP loans 🤣 the other critics had their PPP loans forgiven lol…

  23. What happened to earn what you have?
    What's next credit card debt?
We just keep spending an printing more till its worthless..
Fake president fake policy sold us out to foreign interests corporations and vaccine companies for the plandemic they are trying to divide us by colors and races they are erasing genders they have open borders hypocrites thieves and liars don't buy into the garbage

  24. Oh it feels unfair? Life isn't fair. For years the actual professionals with skillsets are dwarfed by billionaire business graduates who learn basic math and gambling. 14 year old girls with tiktok and illegal onlyfans are likely making more than your entire street combined. Musicians who have neve studied an iota of music theory dominate the music industry. It is possible to sell childrens art off for millions of dollars because the people buying art often know nothing about art, therefore it only makes sense that real artists are often left by the wayside. Social media has turned basically everything into a popularity contest… It doesn't matter how much skill, talent, or planning you have… the person with more fans will likely have control over you.
    .
Life isn't fair. Get over it people. If you guys wanna complain about this tiny thing, let's start complaining about everything else too. I don't like Biden, but it's pathetic how many people are up in arms about this, but are unwilling to stand up to how our entire economy embodies "unfair."

  25. I joined the Army for loan forgiveness. Today, There would've been no incentive for me to join. Thanks Joe Biden. Meaning, I love the Army and I'm glad I joined. But, If Joe was president back then? I wouldn't have joined. This will also have a HUGE impact on recruitment at a time we need to be cautious of Russia and China.

  26. Grow the hell up. When the hell has life EVER been “fair”?? It sucks that people had the experience of going broke and missing out on life because they had student debt before this year. A lot of Gen X got the crap end of the stick in life. But it’s better NOW, isn’t that what is important? Some of us chose not to go to college because we couldn’t afford it and have BS jobs because of it, but we don’t have student debt, some of us went to college and have BS jobs AND debt. We all make choices that are crap no matter how you look at it. Move on.

  27. Most are ignorant. They know nothing. They cannot spell, do math, history they are activist who just went to hang out, party and get indoctrinated. Do you know how many took gender studies and race and ethnic studies? Where are those jobs with Biden?

  28. Must be nice!!!!!! We all had to work for what we got. We all had to pay our debt that we ourselves accumulated. when they get that degree, do I get to use part of that degree to get a high paying job since I am helping to pay for it???? This is outrageous and The President does not have the power to spend money like this, Only Congress can decide where money is spent. I don't think this will come to fruision as it is only a ploy for the Democratic midterms.

  29. The Democrats party is no longer the party of John Kennedy when he said "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. It's now the party of vote for me and I'll give you stuff.

  30. Joe Biden and his Administration again are playing politics. Like last time when they proposed this program how long it lasted as well as child tax credits. Don’t be fooled by them people! Open our eyes big to see it will happen and end soon. All they want is to gain more votes for the ongoing election for the next term!

  31. It's hilarious to see that Biden is saying that he's going to forgive student loans, when Congress has no line item in the budget for that. Only Congress can spend money. Of course we have Nancy Pelosi saying he can't do this, just like she said that President Trump couldn't build a wall with DoD funding. But it was approved by the Judicial branch. What's funny is that Nancy also said that mandatory COVID-19 injections were unlawful, and yet they were allowed. Bunch of liars…all of them.

  32. Lol gop starts two major wars in the Middle East, trump administration sent 5k troops to protect saudi oil on our tax dollars BUT GOD FORBID if we help our own citizens???

You maga sheep 🐑 need to wake up!!!!

  33. Biden ruins country in a few short years, parents can't find food for the babies, it literally cost the average family 500 dollars more a month than it did last year at this time. I don't know if I should laugh or cry at the grocery store. But Biden thinks this is going to save his midterm chances? I don't think so. Voting republican down the line. Everything Biden touches turns to rust.

  34. All weve heard from this administration is that our suffering is "worth it" and "necessary" and "part of an amazing transition" so why cant that include college students? Were ALL suffering here, why do college students get the golden ticket?????

  35. Socialism. Distribution of wealth. Take from the working class and give to the higher class. Middle class becomes poorer and poorer . Elites get richer. They want us to give up our private vehicle too. World Economic Forum. Only they should have. That’s the game playing with the gas.

  36. People that are outraged because they want to be contrarians or whatever are forgetting how predatory the higher education system in this country is. When you're in your senior year of high school, you're constantly getting bombarded by someone telling you that you need to go to college and the debt will be worth it. I remember the backlash I received from my parents, teachers, and peers when I wanted to wait awhile. There is immense pressure and these are still teenagers who are developing mentally/getting to know the real world – of course they aren't going to know any better. I became a systems analysts and I got a good job, but the amount of time and debt accumulated to achieve it makes zero sense. It's such a huge investment for not a whole lot of return.

The price you pay for living in a society is that often times we have to reach into our pockets to correct a mistake in order for everyone to move forward.

  37. Bankruptcy law prevents economic enslavement and protects those rights which we, the people, hold as self-evident, inalienable, God-Given rights: The right to be left alone, to pursue happiness, and to enjoy the fruits of one's own labor. Bankruptcy law is Federal Law and cases are administered in Federal Courts.

Guess which debt cannot be cured with bankruptcy? Are students slaves?

  38. this is crazy. no one complained when the bankers screwed up and got bailed out and still foreclosed on millions making them homeless. why dont we just give all our tax money to the billionaires. yeah would that make you happy?

  39. look, i get that people being handed a free $10k are happy, but they need to remain objective enough to know that this is some majorly unfair BS that is literally theft, and its being given to college grads which have the highest average incomes which makes them the 60% of the top earners… thats 300b tax dollars stolen to pay for irresponsible peoples VOLUNTARY debt. i didn't sign up to pay your debt, you did… this sets a dangerous new precedent and it does nothing to solve the student loan issue because i can go out and get a public loan today, and the vicious cycle continues…
dont even try to hit me with the childish 2 wrongs make a right "but the PPP loans" argument… its nowhere near the same and i consider both to be wrong, so there is no hypocrisy there

  40. side note, loan forgiveness is a fancy way of saying, you can pay for this with your taxes for the rest of your life. even when your debt is payed, you can keep paying. The Gov doesnt actually have any money, all the money they spend, is our money. period.

  41. We bail out businesses and foreign countries all day every day but when it comes to the future of the country O HELL NAW THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE SIGNING UP FUR. Get the F out of here.

  42. Don’t fucking pretend like you give a shit about about the people who you think this is unfair to. You never cared about the people who managed to pay it off before the forgiveness plan was announced. You only care now because it’s what suits the will of your corporate masters.

  43. Here's a wild idea WXYZ, interview unlettered plebes on the strand about formal education and its machinations 👍 you're sure to get unbiased, well-formulated opinions

  44. I made sure I took a degree path that was worth it and paid off my loans myself and got scholarships when possible. College should NOT be a requirement for many fields.

Government hasn't done anything to stop the reckless spending by public universities, including many buying freaking mansions for their presidents to live in for free. Do something about that first before stealing from us all.

  45. The "this is unfair" arguments are without merit. We all pay taxes. Taxes are used to pay for things like schools, roads, libraries, EMTs, police and fire departments, etc. According to the "this is unfair" logic, people who have never called 911 or been to a library shouldn't have to pay taxes. Makes perfect sense when you live in a collective society.

  46. It's scary that republicans have managed to convince their followers that the government helping it's own people is somehow a bad thing. Many countries do this because it incentivizes higher education and skill development which will result in higher tax revenue because your workforce is more skilled and isn't saddled by debt so they spend the money they are earning, boosting the economy. Everyone wins, yet somehow it's awful?

  47. Gretchen is a witch from hell send that racists murderer to prison, zuckerburg admitted to everything yesterday you the news outlets and fbi who helped cover up Biden’s selling secrets to our enemies will not go unpunished , for now we’ll send every illegal to democratic states you deserve much worse but God won’t let us tar and feather your lying a$$es

  48. The Democrats are doing something that should never happen without congress voting on it. We the people have no say in the Democrats buying votes on are dime without are say-so !!!

  49. Part of growing up is paying your debts. I personally didn’t have anyone bank roll my education nor do I want to pay anymore than I already do for others education.
The only reason Brandon is doing this is for votes from the people that owe this money!!
Guess what our tax money is now going to be paying for all those ridiculous degrees in things like classical this or that. Many of the things people major in are worthless yet they signed up and agreed to pay for them, oh but wait now for their vote for Brandon we the taxpayers will take that burden off of them.
What happened to a real raise in social security and disability payments?? No now they are trying to tell us there is no inflation which they can then use to say since there is no inflation a raise in social security or disability for next year will not happen or they will raise it a measly.25 for the year along with raising Medicare part b costs.
Pay your own student loans you signed for them you owe them not me!!

  50. People that don't "like" don't understand it, the debt just doesn't disappear!
You have to get on a payment plan and pay for a certain amount of time to qualify for "forgiveness".
    The more you know…lol

  51. I definitely don’t like it. I don’t know much about these PPP payments everyone keeps talking about but i didn’t benefit from that program either; I took a year off during the heart of Covid and lived off my savings

I’m a truck driver, went to college for a semester and dropped out 25 years ago. I paid back every cent of my loan. I do not have the perks of having a college degree but now I’m forced to pay for others’ loans who decided to get their degrees? By any metric that’s incredibly unfair

Im for regulating the cost of tuition and maybe having the universities eat some of that money since their ridiculous tuition rates is what caused this crisis in the first place but redistributing these loan payments to the taxpayers is not fair to those of us that chose other paths in life. It’s just not. No hate but I don’t want to pay for your loans and I shouldn’t have to

  52. Thank you, President Biden. This act will not increase inflation and will help boost the economy. As a college graduate who has repaid all of my student loans I am excited to hear this great news. Thank you!

And to all the right-wing fascists who lie about everything: YOU are absolutely unAmerican. Want a civil war, bring it!

  53. Let's make the banks who said they weren't going to take PPP return all the billions they took through loopholes. Let's make the Orange Crimecicle repay all his bankruptcies and of course let's get all the money we've spent on corporate and farm bailouts

  54. For the ppl that are against this for the sole reason that either they are already paid off their and they didn’t have help. Shows how selfish y’all are. Says so much really! Anyone that is against this is just ridiculous 🤦🏽‍♀️! As for the hypocrites in the senate n congress that are already getting blasted. We all know y’all have no shame so the least y’all could do is spare us ur BS n STFU!

  55. Why can't government give 10k to everyone who PAYS into federal income tax. I'm not talking about anyone who files just the ones that had payroll deductions taken out all year. This seems much more fairer. Give back to those who put in.

  56. Maybe college would be cheaper if they didn't pay coaches salaries of ten million dollars a year, or the players who already going to school for free because they can run and catch a ball.

  57. Those people saying it's a bad policy, are not putting things into perspective. Some more MAGA propaganda talking points. Only if they realize the amount in the PPP loans their GOP politicians and corporations got, and was forgiven. They range from 5, 6, to 7 figure digits. And all was forgiven. And those politicians were supposedly millionaires. And don't forget about the tax cuts Trump gave the super wealthy people and corporations. Those loan forgiveness given to students are a drop in the bucket, compared to the tax cuts and PPP loans the rich got.

  58. NONE of this is FREE. Debt is not forgiven and magically erased. YOUR taxes will increase and everyone will pay for it. Are people really this naive or should I say illiterate.

  59. The colleges and universities are charging a fortune for education. Their coffers are full and they are making hugh profits on the tuition and also when signing up student loans at a higher cost than students shopping around. Get them to reduce the tuition to a reasonable amount.

  60. For those who are against any help for student loans, I hope they turned down the PPP/COVID stimulus money they got from the US/Michigan. I mean we don't want to be hypocrites….right? wink

  61. Interest on student debt IS A TAX on student debt.
Do boomers want kids to hold up the economy with taxes on required education while the boomers got a clean break?

  62. if only america "the greatest nation blah blah" was as good as other countries and offered people free education… and healthcare. (nb4 the usual arguments from people that believe billionaires that dont wanna pay taxes)

  63. We're a nation of three year olds. We forgot that life isn't fair. It goes both ways. Life isn't fair, which is why you gotta take out loans for college. Life isn't fair, which is why some people's debt is forgiven. People are going to have it easier than you. If that pissed you off, you're a child.

  64. On average, people without college degrees earn less than those with college degrees. That is why most students are willing to pay so much for that higher income. Those that are earning less on average who never attended college are now forced to subsidize those that are earning more because of their degrees. I had 40k in student loans before paying them off on Feb 2020 but still understand why middle and lower class non-graduates wouldn’t want to pay for college for others.

  65. If Republicans in Michigan feel like student loan forgiveness isn't fair and equates to "Big Government Socialism," then maybe ask them how they feel about how farmers in Michigan took in about $4,242,000,000 in federal subsidies between 1995 and 2020. It's a free market enterprise, right? Let those farms fail if they don't want Big Government Socialism.

  66. Unfair, no! Don't take it personal! I had to pay off my student loans and I think is great for our children who are drowning in them! Our debt was nothing compared to theirs. College is big business now and the rates are through the roof. 🤔😒

  67. "Crisis point when it comes to student loans"
is that what we call it when someone takes out a loan they know full well they won't be able to pay back because the "career" they're interested in involves a gender studies degree (unemployed)

  68. So is everyone against this ok with the government subsidizing farmers who grow corn just to end up as ethanol in your fuel tank? Willing to bet most people crying about this arent so worried about our tax dollars being spent on that but are some of the loudest opponents. Maybe people should stop and think how they might have benefited from other peoples money before crying they didnt get something from this.
